UK Woman Dies from Rabies after Dog Bite in South Asia.

A woman in her 50s recently died from rabies after she was bitten by a dog on a trip to a south Asian country.

The wrongful death victim received treatment for her disease at the Hospital for Tropical Diseases in London, England, after she was twice turned away from the Darent Valley Hospital without being diagnosed. The hospital has attempted to reassure the public that there is no risk of rabies spreading to other patients.

UK’s Health Protection Agency and the Darent Valley Hospital have launched separate investigations to determine why the patient was twice turned away without an accurate diagnosis.

More than 55,000 people around the world die every year from rabies. Most of the deaths occur in Asian countries.
