{"id":351,"date":"2012-06-19T18:28:24","date_gmt":"2012-06-19T18:28:24","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/bostonmawrongfuldeathlawyer.com\/blog\/?p=351"},"modified":"2012-06-19T18:28:24","modified_gmt":"2012-06-19T18:28:24","slug":"rodney-king-found-dead-in-swimming-pool","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/bostonmawrongfuldeathlawyer.com\/blog\/rodney-king-found-dead-in-swimming-pool\/","title":{"rendered":"Rodney King Found Dead in Swimming Pool."},"content":{"rendered":"<p><strong>Rodney King was a key African-American figure and a symbol of the problems of violence many African Americans face in the America.\u00a0 The severe beating of Rodney King by Los Angeles police was caught on video, and sparked the largest riot in U.S. history<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p><iframe loading=\"lazy\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/mgyIoDq0TDc\" frameborder=\"0\" width=\"400\" height=\"280\"><\/iframe><\/p>\n<p>The police had pulled over King for speeding and accused him of being \u201con drugs\u201d and \u201caggressive.\u201d\u00a0 The police then beat him in a dark street, hitting him more than 50 times, kicking him, and shooting him with stun guns, as a witness videotaped the entire incident.<\/p>\n<p>The riot began after four police officers involved in the brutal beating that nearly killed King were acquitted of all charges.\u00a0 The riot &#8211; the largest in U.S. history &#8211;\u00a0resulted in extensive property damage, and fifty-five people were killed and over 3,000 people were injured.<\/p>\n<p><strong>King\u00a0garnered a $3.8 million settlement with the City of Los Angeles and the case led to sweeping changes in the LAPD.\u00a0<\/strong> Nearly twenty years later, King had still not recovered from his serious personal injuries caused by the beating.\u00a0 King went on to become a record company executive and reality television star;
