President Obama Assigns Biden to a Team Dedicated to Developing Proposals to Prevent Gun Violence.

Following the events of the terrible personal injuries and wrongful deaths arising from the Sandy Hook Elementary School shooting, President Obama has assigned Vice President Joe Biden to lead a team tasked with creating concrete proposals aimed at reducing gun violence.  This would ideally be accomplished no later than January 2013.

President Obama states that once he gets the suggestions from Biden’s group, he will push gun legislation immediately in Congress.  He is also urgently requesting Congress to promptly hold votes on the bill.

Two Women Killed in Utah Car Crash.

At around 4 p.m. last Tuesday in Lake Point, Utah,  a car was hit from behind and propelled into a head-on collision on State Route 36. The car accident occurred near the intersection of State Route 36 and Hardy Road and closed road ways for upwards of 4 hours.

Just before the auto accident, two women driving in a silver sedan were traveling north on Route 36. At that time, they slammed on the breaks, causing a second car, a pickup truck, to rear end their motor vehicle. The Sedan swerved head-on into an SUV traveling in oncoming traffic. Neither woman was wearing a seatbelt at the time of the motor vehicle accident.

Two women in the sedan were killed. The driver of the SUV sustained non-life threatening injuries.

A fourth car may have been involved in the automobile accident as well. Police were seen investigating the car crash on Tuesday night. The vehicle collision is still under active investigation.

Apparent Suicide of Canadian Girl Linked to Teen Bullying.

15 year-old Amanda Todd was recently found dead, from an apparent suicide, by British Columbia, Canada police authorities. Todd’s death comes a mere matter of weeks after she had posted a video on YouTube desperately seeking help in battling her drug and alcohol problems, which she said were induced by teen bullying.

The 9-minute YouTube video shows a silent Todd holding up notes detailing her long and difficult experience with bullying. In the video, Todd says that she was persuaded by someone on the internet to expose herself on a webcam. A picture of the encounter was then used to harass her on both social media and in school.

Todd also explained on her video how she was constantly taunted by her schoolmates, despite switching schools many times. She says that bullies at school even physically attacked and assaulted her.

Local police authorities continue to investigate the tragic wrongful death incident at this time.

Bullying is a far too prevalent occurrence in today’s society, and often has devastating consequences on victims like Amanda Todd, including wrongful death.
