The motorcyclist’s estate argued that the driver failed to properly stop in time and that he had a “Z” restriction on his driver’s license, which reportedly prohibited the man from driving a vehicle that is not equipped with a breathalyzer interlock system. The man’s truck had no such system. The lawsuit was ultimately settled by all parties for $3.5 million.
